Design
Speaking of appearance, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class rests on a hand-welded galvanized steel platform. Nothing says quality quite like "hand-welded." And quality doesn't stop there, the frame has been coated with a hot wax component in order to prevent corrosion. Just like building a house, foundation is most important and this attention to detail in the platform construction says a lot for this brand. Although, you don't see this important aspect, what you do see is a head-turning utility vehicle that demands notice. The G-Class's super-stylish body showcases its 1970's military roots as this is how this sought-after model got its start.
Off-Road
And if going off-road is where you're headed, the G-Class makes it easy for you. Interior features provide a convenience at your fingertips. Located at the middle dash panel, there are three buttons that enable drivers to transition into the torque and traction they need. These buttons specify center, rear, front and are used to maintain the precise balance desired for off-road adventure. If staying on the main path is more your speed, then you will love the Distronic Plus cruise control which utilizes a radar device. This radar adjusts the speed of the vehicle based on the traffic flow fluctuations in its surroundings. While both the Range Rover and G-Class provide hands-free communication with Bluetooth® so talking, texting and listening to music is possible without distracting the driver; however, the 2015 G-Class offers a new option in second row entertainment.
Performance
Under the hood you will find as much horsepower and torque as your heart desires. Range Rover features a 510 hp unit with 461 lb.-ft. of torque, but if this is not enough, check out the AMG® model of G-Class that houses 536 hp with 560 lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel efficiency is probably not even a consideration in this line-up of vehicles; however, Mercedes-Benz offers a diesel model proudly conserving its fuel consumption.
